A NYE’s warmup at The Wizard of Oz production at The Capitol with Collins/Mills clan: wonderfully camp in fabulous glittery technicolour.

The Don’s Sydney apartment floats very near the Harbour Bridge so he, we and friends gathered for a progressive lux dinner of champagne, caviar and scallops and watched the spectacle of the NYE fireworks explode close by.

The Sydney sojurn was a rock & roll start to the Big Trip – thanks Don & Lesley!

1st January 2018: we flew across the ditch to Dad’s in Takapuna, Auckland, NZ for a few hazy days.

6 January 2018: A rapid roadie through the pastoral rollercoaster of NZ via Taupo & Napier to Mahia Peninsula near Gisborne. Finally catching up with the welcoming Anna, Jasper and family Holdsworth including godson Harry, now 15yo, was a heap of fun. And as it turned out, their neighbours were visiting – Kim Redmond and his wee family – an awesome surprise and incredible place to catch up on 17 years.
We all loved Mahia: the huge sweeping vista across the rugged cradle of crags out over wild beaches and reefs fringing the awe inspiring Pacific Ocean. And the friends there filled our buckets with a healthy dose of warm fuzzies and a hilarious game called Ex Libris.
