We arrived in London to a beautiful day, green grass, blue skies and spring bud, just in time to help make a cake for the twin cousins 4th birthday. It was special to be there in person to celebrate as it was the first time the kids and Ally had met their smallest English relatives.

A trip to the Science Museum in London worked out well as one of our ‘school’ lessons. The modern history section made the ’70’s kids feel old, as ‘relics’ of childhood are now on display. Long live vinyl!
An overnight trip to Worthing on the South Coast to see AJ, And, Olive and Sonny was a great breath of sea air, with several pebble beach walks to run the kids and their dog, Rocket. A pier amusement arcade, where as usual penny’s were poorly spent, a ramble on the downs with wild horses, and indulging Olive’s love of AC/DC over a few drinks were all part of the much enjoyed shenanigans. Check Roger’s artistic interpretation of this seaside town.

We drove back on a beautiful spring day via Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed in 1215 – such an important document that provided the basis for much of Western democracy and the freedoms and rights the masses enjoy today. Good reminder at this time of Brexit and Trump, that things could be worse.

Muddy walks and mute swans – Townsville feels a long way away.
