A must do for the Beeden family was Harry Potter World, just up the road from Roger’s folks. We all trundled along, some with minimal expectations and it was ACE!!! It helps to have read the books and seen the movies and be a Potterphile but even without the lifelong commitment to all-things-maglic it was completely enchanting.

Anya got to open the door into the Great Hall, Max got Harry’s name on parchment from the Goblet of Fire, they rode brooms and got coaching in wand techniques. A favourite for Ally was Dumbledore’s office and the Potions classroom.

Butter beer and ice cream, was also on the menu.

The Hogwarts castle set was beautiful.

Three hours ripped by, and we left buzzing with all that was seen, as well as Hermione’s wand and a Gryffindor t-shirt.
It was a bit early but we gathered friends and family together on what happened to be a royal wedding day for early birthday cake for Anya. It was definitely worth the three day project of making it and a wonderful opportunity to see English rellies and nearby friends as well as Kiwi coussies who live in London.

The sun shone, Costco catered, kids played tag, the adults drunk fizzypop – a happy day.
