Big Days Out in London Town

It was one of those whistlestop tours of London, grandparents patiently in tow. A Greenwich starting point where we stood East AND West of time, looking up at the Timeball and out across London to the North.

On a boat up the Thames, with a surprising number of beaches and a less surprising high proportion of historical and modern buildings and monuments.

Onto the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs and blue whale skeleton as well as a geological journey through time and some incredible gemstones. Rocks keep rocking!

Kids trained off with the grandparents and Roger and Ally had a whole London night and day to themselves! Music (Ronnie Scott’s Cuban jazz night – FUN!) and art (the Tate Modern requisite visit to fill the boots of kulcha) were on the menu. And the unexpected – there was a bloke using dropped and trodden chewing gum on the millennium bridge as a canvas for miniature paintings – a heartwarming curio of this creative city.

On a very springy May evening, Anya and Ally had a very special opportunity to go to the Chelsea Garden show – thanks Carol! Too many floral dresses even for Ally’s liking, but everything else was fab. Anya found a cocoon chair to swing in, Ally rediscovered her love of all things floral and sculptural.
